Breeding Information
There is a lot of information on this page, but please read through it all if you would like to make a breeding request.
All of the horses at Elysian Fields are realistically bred, meaning their pedigrees trace back to real horses. Any real horses used are typed out in all caps. Horses bred or owned by farms/stables other than Elysian Fields will be noted as such. If there is no such notation, then the horse in question is Elysian Fields owned and bred. I will not accept horses with unrealistic pedigrees to be bred to any of my horses. If a parent is extensively model-bred, then I require an extended pedigree as far back as the real horses for approval, or one I can easily and quickly research to real horses myself.
All of the horses are plastic or resin models, except where no such indication is made. For those pedigrees, it just means I have not purchased a suitable model for that pedigree yet. I will accept foals without model bodies from stallions and/or mares here, depending on the purpose of the pedigree.
My horses are ageing, which means they, and any offspring, are given a birth year. Foals to outside owners will also be given birth years for my records, regardless of whether those foals are ageing or non-ageing. Ageing foals are preferable for realism. Each stallion has foal crop years indicated, and each mare has a list of available and unavailable foaling years. Future bookings can and are often made, so please ask if you wish to have a future foal. If no years are listed, then it means that horse is currently unavailable for pedigree assignment, but inquire about them if interested. Stallions are U.S. based, but can have foals worldwide through artificial insemination. In the case of Thoroughbreds, the stallions are based in the U.S., Australia, Argentina, Scotland (Great Britain), and South Africa, and may stand in another country, or shuttle. All mares are limited to one foal each per year - no twins or embryo transfers allowed. Foals from my mares are born in their respective countries, but may be exported. My stallions and mares are generally 4 to 6 years older than their first foal, so outside sires and/or dams should be about that as well. My geldings do not currently have foal crop years prior to gelding, but are featured on this site anyway to highlight their respective pedigree assignment programs and/or show records. Geldings are breed ambassadors, after all!
No "matings" are allowed between full siblings, a stallion and his daughters, or a mare and her sons.
Naming rules established by the various breed registries are followed. The "EF" prefix is reserved for Arabians and part Arabians owned and/or bred by Elysian Fields (and usually used only when a name without the prefix is already taken in real life).
Color genetic rules are followed, so a foal's coat color must either be a genotypic possibility of the chosen parents (meaning the horses could potentially produce a foal of that color), or phenotypically match one of the parents (meaning the foal is the same color as one of its parents). The horses here have their coat color genotypes and phenotypes listed in their information (i.e. bay stallion, Ee / Aa). If you want clarification about this, then please click here for my explanation of equine color genetics.
Please note any horse-specific information, such as "open to U.S. based stallions only," etc.
For simplicity, and because they are models, all of the horses at Elysian Fields are free from every known genetic disorder and transmissible disease. With the model few spot Appaloosas, night blindness is obviously not possible, though if they were real, they would be affected by that genetic condition.
Please respect the time and effort put into developing the programs here, and use my horses by request only. The breedings are free, so there is no need to use them without permission.
